Overview

History

Rangiura Charitable Trust Board was formed in 1975, following the South Waikato District's desire to build a Residential Home for the elderly. The land for the home was generously donated by the late Wally and Dot Grey, and the local community then fundraised a significant amount to enable the Home to be constructed debt free. In 1981 a 30 bed rest home was proudly opened. Since this time the Home has grown to include 26 rest home beds (including six studio apartments), 26 hospital/palliative beds and 20 specialised dementia- specific beds. Rangiura also has a well established retirement village made up of 80 duplex and standalone villas, situated across two sites.

Ranguira (which translates to "Glorious Sunset") has just completed the first two stages of it's expansion to services and has plans to expand  further in the next 18 months to include additional  dementia and hospital beds, home-care services, and the possibility of licenced-serviced apartments. In this way we can continue to meet the growing health care needs of the older population in our community.

Rangiura is extremely fortunate to have had the continuous support of the South Waikato Community over the years and has remained the leading aged care provider in the district due to these community connections and generous input of individuals and groups alike. Our dedication to providing both a homelike and loving environment , coupled with a professional clinical service, ensures our residents are cared for in a truly holistic manner.
