Eden in Oz. Transforming aged care...

The residents, families and staff of Rangiura would like to extend a very a warm welcome to our website.

Rangiura was established in 1981 as a Charitable Trust on donated land and is surrounded by large picturesque grounds. Its 'wide-open' situation in a quiet location within walking distance of the main centre makes it suitable for access to the wider community in safety.

We are an Eden registered home and have a longstanding reputation of providing a truly caring and homelike environment where our residents, families and staff are treated with dignity and respect. This is complemented by our dedication to providing exceptional clinical care and we have a full team of experienced and dedicated clinicians and carers to ensure residents are cared for in the manner appropriate for them. (Please refer to our mission statement and guiding principles for further details).

Our Home currently comprises of 26 Rest Home level beds. In addition we have 6 studio units (with Rest Home level designation), ideally for semi- independent living in a safe environment.

We also provide comprehensive care for older people requiring Level 5 (Hospital level/continuing care) – with up to 26  dedicated high care beds, and the additional advantage of being able to provide advice, support and care  for residents and their families/whanau requiring palliative care services. As part of this service- we have a majority of these bedrooms installed with the Romedic- ceiling hoist system.  The first system of it's kind to be installed in NZ, this hoist system enables our physio and care team to handle and mobilise residents at the safest levels , and also provides additional oportunites for rehabilitation and incresed circulation/stimulation.

Depending on room availability we can also provide Respite Care, ACC Rehabilitation Care, Transitional Care and our Day Care programme is well established.

"Fern Haven" , our beautiful Memory Support Home, opened in Dec 2010 and provides dedicated care services for residents requiring secure- Dementia care (Level 3).  This Home, which is based around the Eden Alternative principles and House hold model design, is the first of it's kind to be built in Australasia.  This service ( which can provide care for up to 20 residents) has been very popular since it's opening. The style of resident directed care coupled with this unique environment has had a truly postive impact on the lives and overall functioning of the residents who live here, including the well-being of family, friends and out care team.   For more information please click on our Memory Support page.

An 80 Unit Retirement Village also complements the Home, with some villas surrounding the complex, and 34 villas situated at Arts Lane in the main town centre. A further three villas are currently under construction adjacent to the main Rest Home in Matai Crescent.
